Ingredients

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 pound fresh figs halved lengthwise
  • cooking spray

Instructions

  • Position a broiler rack 6 inches from the heat source and preheat your broiler. Coat a large cooking sheet with cooking spray.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and spices.
  • One at a time, dip the figs, cut side down, into the sugar mixture to coat. Then coat the figs a second time with the sugar mixture and arrange cut side up on the baking sheet.
  • Broil the figs, watching closely, for about 4 minutes, or until the sugar melts and begins to caramelize and figs soften slightly and begin to ooze their juice. Serve immediately.

Notes

  1. Choose ripe figs for the best results.
  2. Leftovers will stay fresh in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
